Is there a woman in your life you consider a hero? The Famous 5 Foundation, in collaboration with Light Heart Concepts, is sponsoring a story writing contest to honour Alberta women in this year of centennial celebrations.
You are invited to submit a story about your Alberta woman hero to the Wondrous Western Women Story Contest. It could be about your mother, grandmother, neighbour, mentor, teacher, or a nation-building Alberta woman who paved the way for our future. Entries will be read and judged by a panel from the Famous 5 Foundation.
First prize is $500 plus a complimentary Famous 5 Luncheon for two with Aritha van Herk, award winning author of Mavericks: An Incorrigible History of AlbertaThe luncheon will be held in Calgary’s Fairmont Palliser Hotel where the Famous 5 met to celebrate their victory of the 1929 "Persons" Case
