About the Artists

Mary Kieftenbeld, Composer

Mary Kieftenbeld is a singer/songwriter who was born and raised near Calahoo, Alberta. Born into a musical family, she began singing in her local church choir at age six. At age ten she picked up the guitar and has been singing and playing since. In May 2003, she released her debut CD, takin’ time. Mary resides near Rivière Qui Barre with her husband Ed, a farmer, and their four children. She feels honoured, excited, thankful and very blessed to be involved with this project celebrating Alberta’s Centennial.

Dave Pierce, Arranger/Producer

Calgary-based producer Dave Pierce is an award winning talent whose music entertains audiences worldwide. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, his arrangements have supported artists including Jann Arden, Michael Bublé, Tim Tamashiro, Dee Daniels, Ian Tyson and Petula Clark. Dave is the Music Director for the Calgary Stampede Evening Grandstand Show writing, arranging and producing music for acts ranging from The Young Canadians to stars from Cirque Du Soleil. Producing Mary’s song for the people of Alberta has been a career highlight.
