Canada Day

Canada Day 2005 was a great opportunity for communities, towns and cities across Alberta to celebrate both the nation’s and the province’s birthday in a big way.

At the provincial legislature, food, fun and festivities were featured on the grounds and in the pedway. Tour guides dressed in 1905 costume were there to greet people and highlight a century of Alberta tradition and Alberta Centennial Ambassadors were on site to help spread the Centennial spirit.

Kids of all ages enjoyed the Canada Day carnival that took place near the wading pools. A pancake breakfast, dance and music ensembles, as well as face painting, balloon creations and various games entertained visitors on the grounds. Draws for free passes to various Edmonton attractions or a Centennial Picnic Pak were a part of the celebrations.

There are also hundres of events on the centennial on-line events calendar for more ideas on how you can participate in your community or a community near you.
