It was the party of the century!

AlbertaSpirit, a celebration of Alberta’s 100th birthday on September 1st, 2005, included a total of ten communities hosting celebrations including simultaneous fireworks displays, and great Alberta entertainment. The line-up of entertainment included local performers alongside some of the province’s top talents including Paul Brandt, Corb Lund, The Emeralds, Wide Mouth Mason, Maren Ord and Jann Arden.
Massive jumbotrons in each community linked celebrations to create a truly provincewide party. Edmonton, Calgary, Banff, Lethbridge, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Bonnyville and Wainwright were the communities that hosted the celebrations.

Albertans who couldn't make it out, were able to watch a live broadcast of the events on CityTV, ACCESS and Canadian Learning Television. A webcast of the day's events was also available.
The AlbertaSpirit celebrations also reopened the Jubilee Auditoria in Edmonton and Calgary with a gala concert linked between both cities. The Jubilees were closed in June 2004 for $72 million in upgrades to commemorate the Centennial.
Albertans also celebrated Alberta's birthday by exploring our history and natural heritage. Alberta's provincially owned historic sites, museums, and interpretive centres offered free admission, and Alberta's provincial parks are offered free camping on September 1st.
