ALBERTA
To this land of opportunity our ancestors cameTo the open prairies and woodlands of this wilderness, untamedThey came in search of freedom to hunt and farm the land –In this northwest land of plenty, our forefathers made their stand. The first was Anthony Henday in seventeen-fifty-fourwith Cree guides and pack mules he ventured to explore . . .He returned to Hudsons Bay with tales of this wild and fertile land, and the settlers came to homestead, and make this their final stand.
In the late eighteen hundreds our province was named;Louise Caroline Alberta, daughter of the queenand wife of our Governor General “EARL” Albert Grey;A Princess of the realm made us a gift of her regal name.
In our province we stand tall, proud to be living freeOur farmlands are a paradise sewn with golden seedThe earth is rich with oil fields and mineral mines aboundand wildlife is plentiful in the woodlands that surround . . .We have mountains of wealth and majesty and lakes serene and cleanForests with timber tall and straight and rivers that flow freeOur parklands and our ranchlands are envied world wide . . As Albertans we share our heritage with TRUE CANADIAN PRIDE.
