Amazing Race Across Alberta

The Spirit of Alberta website is giving Alberta teachers, parents and teachers an opportunity to test their knowledge of Alberta and virtually ‘race' around the province.

By using research and collaborative skills, students are asked to analyse the images and clues posted on the 2Learn.ca's Spirit of Alberta Amazing Race project website. Over 7 legs of the race, students travel throughout the province visiting historical sites, examining Alberta's history and discovering Alberta's natural resources and important industries. Participants are encouraged to use books, atlases and road maps as well as online materials in their attempts to identify images and decipher clues, ultimately arriving at the virtual destination

The Spirit of Alberta website was created with input from over 200 teachers to celebrate the centennial and help teachers and students integrate the centennial theme into many aspects of the curriculum. The website also provides a wide variety of resources, activities and projects that will help make this a year to remember and build a legacy for future generations.
