Celebrate Centennial on Canada's Parks Day

Enjoy a day of outdoor activities and be a part of Alberta's parks and protected areas' centennial celebrations at Parks Day events on July 16, 2005. From hikes and barbeques to rescue demonstrations and amphitheatre programs, Parks Day offers a variety of family-friendly events.

First celebrated in 1990, Canada's Parks Day invites all Canadians to recognize and appreciate the value of our parks from coast to coast.

Alberta has 520 parks and protected areas that preserve our natural, historical and cultural heritage. Alberta's centennial is a unique opportunity to appreciate this heritage and the outdoor recreation provided by parks and protected areas.

Alberta's network of parks and protected areas offers first-hand discovery of our natural ecosystems and enhances awareness of the interrelationships Albertans share with the natural world.
