Tickets to the AlbertaSpirit Gala Sold Out

Free tickets to the AlbertaSpirit Gala celebrating the province's 100th birthday on September 1st have sold out.

AlbertaSpirit audiences at the Edmonton and Calgary Jubilee Auditoria will enjoy a variety of performances, including Paul Brandt and the 30-piece Centennial Jazz Band under the direction of George Blondheim in Edmonton, and Jann Arden, Rebecca Jenkins and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra in Calgary. The gala performances will be shared between the two auditoria. The semi-formal event will begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by a pre-show at 7:30 p.m. and the gala itself running from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

A minimum of 1,000 tickets for each Jubilee location were distributed through Ticketmaster on a first come, first served basis. Given the limited number of tickets available, only two tickets were issued per transaction.

Albertans without tickets to the AlbertaSpirit Gala can still catch the highlights by keeping an eye on the jumbotron at celebrations in any of the 10 AlbertaSpirit host communities, or by tuning into the live broadcast from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Citytv, ACCESS and Canadian Learning Television (CLT). The gala will also be shown on September 2nd between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on CLT, and from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. on ACCESS.

The AlbertaSpirit Gala is the first major event to take place in the Jubilee Auditoria since they closed for renovations in June 2004. Both Jubilees were constructed in 1955 for the province's 50th anniversary. The Government of Alberta's Centennial Legacy program provided $72 million to upgrade the Jubilees for 2005.
