Alberta Venture Magazine has named the 50 Greatest Albertans of the Century and Grant MacEwan was voted number one on the list.
A true Renaissance man, Grant MacEwan was a successful educator, writer, politician and visionary and gained the loyalty and admiration of Albertans.
Other members of the top ten include: Ralph T. Scurfield, Lois Hole, Peter Lougheed, Emily Murphy, Ralph Klein, Joseph Gurba, Ernest Manning, Nellie McClung, and Thelma Chalifoux.
A commemorative poster featuring the Greatest Albertans will appear in the Decmeber 2005 issue of Alberta Venture. A full list of the winners and their biographies is available at www.greatestalbertan.com. Shaw TV has been airing short segments on each of the 50 Greatest Albertans of the Century and will air the Grant MacEwan segment throughout the day on December 2.
From July to October, readers were invited cast a vote for the Greatest Albertan of the Century online. Votes were received from all across Canada and as far away as Australia and Japan.
