In 1955, Alberta’s 50th anniversary, the province presented the people of Alberta with two identical Jubilee Auditoria, one in Edmonton and one in Calgary. After almost 50 years of constant use, both Jubilee Auditoria are being renovated and refurbished to meet the new technical requirements for major performances and events.
Since that time, several generations of Albertans have seen some of the world’s best international talent at these facilities. A partnership of interests is working toward newly renovated, state-of-the-art Jubilee Auditoria. Refurbishment required to upgrade the buildings and to improve facility operations include seat replacement, sight lines, air quality, acoustics, operating efficiencies and technical requirements for live theatre. The Jubilee Auditoria are scheduled to shut down in June 2004 and open in September 2005 with gala events featuring Alberta performers.
